GRADUALLY BUT SURELY!

Hi guys! wanted to do this post for a while. Thank God I am finally doing it. How is your week going people ? Hope you are having a Godilicious time. Haha! Godilicious! will give you the story behind the word later.

Onto the next one! There is this construction going on in Ogun state around Ojodu/ Yakoyo, the project was kicked off swiftly but was abandoned by the government before 2015 elections and even after the elections.

Then work started again. At first, everyone was skeptical because, unlike before , there were just few workers working on the road. But then, I remember passing there a few days ago and I noticed how much they had progressed.
Then my brother-in-law's pm on WhatsApp came to mind, his personal message reads.... Gradually but surely!

I began to ponder on the reality of these words in real life. There is an adage that says a little drop if water makes a mighty ocean. Also repeated actions lead to a habit. This is not far fetched from the truth.

So how does this apply to real life. Let's say for instance, one of my goals this year is to lose some weight before June. Then I start exercising , eating right and cutting off junks. I might not start seeing results immediately, the scale might even be bulging, but if I keep keeping on (persisting), I will definitely lose that weight.

What about our finances? cutting back on excesses daily and putting away something to save every month or week really goes a long way . Sincerely, most Nigerians live beyond their budget, little wonder we live from paycheck to paycheck. Its a new year, if we must make a headway financially this year, then we need to develop good financial habits. There is this popular saying that says "People buy things they don't need, with the money they don't have, to impress people who don't like them!" *Chuckles* Guys its time for a change.

This principles can also apply to all areas of life , be it spiritual growth, finances , health , relationships. If we propose to take one right step towards these areas daily, we might not see results immediately but gradually we would begin to see improvement.

I am persuaded that God gave us the gift of persistence so that barriers can be broken. I am also convinced that no problem can withstand the power of persistence mostly when coupled with faith in God.

Life is full of challenges. But Guys, don't run away from those challenges, face it heads on. With faith in God, no challenge is insurmountable

Have a Godilicious day!

PS: I think this one post I have done with so many pictures .lol

bitterness,

LET IT GO....

Letting go of issues is so hard, forgiveness is even harder.

Forgiveness is one word that is so easy to write , pronounce and spell out but it's a pain in the neck when you decide to practice it.

Jesus commanded us to forgive but why is it so hard to forgive? Seriously, I dunno, but I do know that forgiveness does not have anything to do with feelings. It's a decision we must make regardless of our feelings.
In this world, there would always be occasions for offenses. Some will be intentional deeds out of a wicked heart , others unintentional. Whichever the case may be, we have to always ask God for grace to forgive.
In a world of abuse, rape, blackmail and lots of vices, we would have to forgive if we will make it through.

Perhaps you are wondering why is she writing about forgiveness, did she have an issue with forgiveness ? Of course I did. But before we get to that, it was a novel that actually inspired this write up.
I love to read and write. I downloaded a novel titled "Design on a crime" from christianbooks.com.
The plot was woven around a murder that led to series of investigation and accusing evidences kept pointing to an innocent person. As the story neared the end , it was discovered that Marge was murdered by Gussie! But why?
Marge had an affair with Tom Gussie's husband fifteen years ago. The affair caused Gussie to develop complications during her pregnancy which she lost . Mark ended the affair but Gussie's emotions have been severely damaged. Years later , Mark met with Marge to discuss business. Gussie heard about this and thought the two were back together. Gussie didn't deal well with the affair before and after the miscarriage. She had became emotionally stressed and deluded, this made her a kleptomaniac and ultimately caused Marge death!

This shows me that bitterness is harmful in many more ways than one.
Bitterness stemming from unforgiveness can cause stress, heart attacks, sickness to mention a few.
My sis and I had a favorite quote we used in our teens , which is "Life is too short to date ugly boys". ( Don't mind us , we used it till we realised that looks aren't everything )
Rephrasing this quote, I would say " Life is too short, to hold grudges throughout ". Grudges don't allow us to enjoy life, it steals our joy and holds us captive . When you see the person in question, you feel a strange sensation of hate! I don't want to go through that and I don't think anyone should.

In my own case it was an ex-boss . He frustrated me so much to the extent that I willingly resigned. I remember praying several times to forgive him after resigning from that place of work. Every time I remember the stress and the evil he put me through, I would feel a strong sensation of hate ( Even after forgiving him) . But then, I decided to continue forgiving him as every time a I remember, I even started praying for him ...strange huh!
I know but we have to do what God commanded.
Guess what? God vindicated me in the end. He got into serious trouble with the directors and he was asked to resign. This happened after I had left. All am saying is forgive, let go and leave it to God.

Happy new year people!!! Yes 2015 has come and gone and 2016 is here .

2015 was a hell of a year. Looking back , I really had lots of would haves and should haves , not to mention the fact that my blogs posts were so meagre till I finally went AWOL. And yes, I added some extra pounds and finally chopped of my long and beautiful relaxed ends (tears) ...just kidding. While I missed my long hair, I. am having a whole new experience with an all natural hair.

Having reviewed my 2015, I was very determined to make my 2016 better. I came up with some ideas which I shared with my children in Sunday school , will share those later .
On Saturday the 2nd I think, I was going through my mail and I decided to check a particular email from Terri Savelle Foy ministries. There was one thing mentioned in the email that struck me, its simply "developing successful habits". This tells me that there are unsuccessful habits.
Developing successful habits will make one successful and unsuccessful habits will make us unsuccessful.
Terri stressed that our lives, success and failures are a product of our habits.

A habit is an established custom or an automatic pattern of behavior in reaction to a specific situation, may be inherited or acquired through frequent repetition.
The kind of habits we take on in life, is going to heavily influence our lives.
Giving an example on savings, most people including me can't seem to save, its like we just blow up the paycheck and wait for the next one. Or we keep wishing that we will land a super mega job that pays in six figures , (nothing wrong with that) the truth is that this rarely happens. But we can choose to discipline our selves financially by putting away a percentage every month. If one puts away 10,000 as saving by year end it will be 120,000 .

We keep looking for the big fat burner that will make us slim, and hot within two weeks. We have forgotten that constant discipline of the body, through exercise and healthy eating is what will keep us fit. Fifteen minutes of daily exercise and avoiding junk food will go a long way losing that fat.

Having said this, one of my visions for new year is to develop successful habits and I sincerely hope you will do same.

Once again,Happy new year people!!!
