GOD,

MY BEST MAN

Hi everyone,i am so excited as this is my second work of fiction on my blog. If you missed the first one---Blame Game, just click here for it. As our usual practice, kindly let me know what you think of it.enjoy...

Tale woke up from the shrieking noise of the alarm from her table clock.Still bleary eyed, she stretched and yawned, she even  decided on going back to sleep. Then she glanced at the table clock and exclaimed "Oh no! "I am going to be late for church". She rushed to the bathroom and came out a few minutes later. She got dressed for church but would not leave until she had performed her last dressing ritual, which was spraying her favorite Chanel perfume from her head down. The perfume bottle is love-shaped with a golden cap. Tale had always been a romantic,in fact this was why she bought this perfume. She usually dreams of how she would someday meet her soul mate. She imagined him to be tall, ummm, not too tall so she wouldn't have to climb a ladder to kiss him. He must be dark skinned, ehh she is fair so she doesn't really like fair guys,he must also be dashingly handsome and rich....terribly rich. Oh! he must also be a christian,a very important quality.
"Ok enough" she said to herself "snap out of it girl, its time for church."

                                                      ************

She got to church 6.45am, just in time before the service started. She remembered that she had forgotten to pray when she woke up, so she bowed her head to say a short prayer. The service started 7am prompt. As Pastor Drew led the opening prayers, she opened her eyes to see Adaeze walk in with her husband Charles. The couple took the seats adjacent  to her,Adaeze gave her a wave and a bright smile while Charles nodded in greeting to her.
"Sweet mushrooms! what a cute couple" she thought. Charles was a young man in his early thirties, he worked with Alma Oil and lived in Lekki. Stealing another glance at the couple, she mutters under her breath "Adaeze is such a lucky girl,I even heard Charles bought her the latest Hyundai Elantra as a wedding gift. (sighs) I wonder when I  will meet the my true love. Anyways I have God,yeah right, (rolls her eyes) God is my boo for now".She lets out a smile and continues praying.
The service progressed and later Pastor Lanre got up to preach about the will of God.He explained that the will of God is written in the bible, therefore to know his will we must read the bible. However, he stressed that God sometimes has a specific direction for different areas of our lives and we can only understand this when we walk closely with God. On a closing note,he told his congregation that atimes, people might not like the will of God if it doesn't suit their expectations but ,they will find out in the end that God always gives the best to his children. Tale adjusted her sitting position and thought "bummer pastor!what did you just say ? That God doesn't always give people what they want? HELL NO! Oops! I am so sorry God, I didn't mean to curse in church. Pleaseee don't let an ugly husband be in your will for me.amen."

                                                   **************
After the service,Tale stood at the welfare stand where she usually met her girl pal Tanya. Tale and Tanya had been friends since high school, people often called them Tsquare because both their names starts with the letter "T". While she waited,a guy dressed in the traditonal buba and sokoto walked up to her. "Excuse me" he said. Tale replied "Hi, how can I help you". My name is Alvin, emmm, you are one of the youth group executives ,aren't you?  "Yes, I am".   "Ok,(he heaves a sigh of relief) I thought I got the wrong girl. I just wanted to ask about the time of the on-coming youth fiesta".
"Didnt you listen to the announcements during the service? she asked looking astounded. "I came in just after the announcements",he covers his face mockingly. "No sweat",she shrugged "but you should try to come earlier next time. The fiesta is on the 23rd-25th of august and it starts by 4pm." Alright, thanks" he said and she replied with a bright "you are welcome."
Five minutes later, she saw Alvin walking back towards her,What is it again? She thought. "I am sorry,I didn't get your name the other time". "I am Tale." Hmmm,"Taleeeee" he repeated slowly,"What a beautiful name".He smiled and held out his hand, she shook it and also smiled. He looked deeply into her eyes for a while and said "I will see you next week".And then he was gone.

GOD,

THE POWER OF REPETITION

1:22 pm Unknown 7 Comments

I was recently assigned to teach eleven year-olds in children church. I am actually not used to teaching Sunday-school to pre-teens, I an so used to younger children,so I prayed for help.

We kicked off the service with a game that I  titled "before and after/ bible drill" ( If  you need details of this game, you can contact me later .It is a great way of engaging children in Sunday school/bible study). Moving on.
I told the kids that the purpose of the game was to test their knowledge of the bible. As the game wore on, I discovered that the children were weak when it came to reciting bible verses offhand. We finished the game and moved on to some other things.

Later, I switched  to discussing some circular issues relating to what they watch on TV and stuffs going on around them. I was amazed at how much they watched music,TV programs and movies. They knew almost every award show going on right now,I mean the golden globes, headies and Grammy etc. They could even name  a number of artistes. They knew the latest songs and music channels both on cable and national TV. By now, I can imagine some of my readers shaking their heads.  Dear reader, its not only you who is flabbergasted ,I was also taken aback when I was hearing it but most of all, I was sad. ( Will probably explain why in another post).

In the midst of all this,I decided to ask them a  question. Then I asked "how did you come to know all these?" Silence dominated the class for a while before someone answered and said " its because we paid attention to it".  The answer was like a bomb dropped on them. I proceeded to tell them that  things they spend more time with , would surely stick to their memory. If they read their bible consistently, it would become a part of them  and they would be able to recite offhand. Putting it in a better way, when they need the word of God to deal with life issues, the holy spirit will remind them of what they have learnt.
While i am not against watching TV,I also told them that knowing the latest songs, movies and artistes doesn't hold any eternal profit for them but knowing the word of God profits them in this world and eternally. Bottom line, spend less time with TV and more time with your bible and other important things.

This analogy brings me back to you and me. How much time do we spend on mundane things instead of spending it on things that are more profitable? A student needs to be diligent in studying his books before he can excel. A person who desires a better relationship with God must be ready to study the bible amongst other things and it must be done consistently. if you have a talent, you must develop and use it over and over till you become a master at it. This list  just goes on. The truth is, change won't just happen, you have got to start doing the necessary things repeatedly till it happens, even when you start seeing changes you still have to continue doing those things.
Remember how you learnt ABC in nursery school, just by repeating the alphabets on and on? And now you came recite A-Z offhand as if its the easiest thing in the world. The same goes for perfecting things in life, you have to keep doing or learning things over and over again.

Oh  dear! I am so sorry. This is such a long post, what happened to me? I don't do long posts, I prefer short and straight to the point,my blogger friends know that. Anyway I am promising that I would never ever eveeeeer do long post again! only if need be just like this one .*winks*

Wonderful weekend y'all

FASHION,

MODEST SWIMSUITS?

4:42 pm Unknown 11 Comments

I like swimsuits a lot, even though I can't swim. I know its embarrassing but never mind. As we all know ,the popular trend for swimsuits today is the bikini,a two piece swimsuit consisting of what I call "Bra and pant". lol.

As much I like swimsuits,I am not comfortable with  wearing the bikini. To me ,its far too revealing and it looks like am in my underwear. I hardly imagine myself strutting around in one. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Before I continue , check out my preferred  swimsuit styles below.

My other reason for not really digging bikinis is actually because  I believe in modesty. But  being  my fashionable self ,I also like something classy. So the question at hand is  how to combine  fashion with modesty? That's why I arrived at the above options.

Meanwhile, I have been thinking if there were people who also thought of instilling modesty into swim wears. So  I surfed the internet and I found some suits tailored for modesty. I just decided to include a few in this post.

While I reserve my comments on the above swimsuits, I really like to hear what people think about swimsuits and modesty. Is a bikini truly modest or not? Also feel free to share your swimsuit preference and your reasons for it.

ON A LIGHTER MOOD: I never said you couldn't wear a bikini on your honeymoon or on a private getaway with husband. To me its perfectly romantic as long as its just  you and him .*winks*

GOD,

BACK TO CORINTH 3

2:41 pm Unknown 7 Comments

Hallo Everyone ,I am so excitecd to be back from my end of the year break . I hope you all had a fantastic holiday. I did, i just hope all eating and drinking has not expanded my waistline. lol.

Still studying the book of Corinthians,  ( Gosh!Only God knows when i will finish studying this book *rolls eyes*) I discovered an astounding comparison which the apostle Paul used in Chapter 5 and I would be discussing it here.

1 Corinthians 5 : 7-8

"Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you  may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.  Therefore let us keep the feast,  not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth"

The leaven was used in baking in the Hebraic days. This leaven was kept aside from part of the an old bread and it was preserved through fermentation. To ferment means means to go sour or change from its original state. The shows that the  leaven was no longer pure, hence it was  used to depict corruption. This was why the Israelites ate the unleavened bread at the passover feast, this unleavened bread contained no leaven. This was to show their setting apart from corruption of the world  unto God . Like wise ,Paul said that we should do away with the old leaven which depicts all sorts of corruption andf evil things such as malice, envy, anger ,bitterness, strife etc and  we should put on the attitude and characters that are pleasing to Christ.

One thing the old leaven does to fresh flour is that it makes it swell thereby infusing its fermentation in it. The old leaven can also be interpreted as sin. Therefore "purging out the old leaven" also means removing the sins that makes us unacceptable to God. I believe that this message is not only for the  Corinth church but its also timely for today's believers.

The Question for you and I is which leaven do we need to purge out?
