INSPIRATION,

GET OUT!

6:40 pm Unknown 8 Comments

Imagine  your boss is mad at you beyond words. He lowers his brows, clenches his fist ,points at you and says GET OUT! If I was in that scenario, I would rush out with great speed!

I think some people actually need to hear that word "GET OUT" and I will tell you why.
Two weeks ago, on my way from work, a colleague of mine dropped me off  at the stop where I was to take a shuttle home. I waited at this stop for a few minutes but no shuttle came. Then, I resolved to praying as usual. I waited  a few more minutes, still no shuttle.

After a while, I decided to stroll down. A friend I met at the stop also decided to join me. We chatted and strolled on, shortly after, an empty shuttle parked and we got in. I was so happy. Then my friend made a statement that got me thinking, he said "perhaps,we won't have gotten this shuttle ,if we stayed at the stop" .

The  reality of my friend's words dawned on me and I began to ponder on the truth of these words. Many of us including me ,I must confess ,have to get out of our comfort zone to experience miracles or changes.Have you been praying for a thing or waiting for a change? Why don't you take a step of faith and move. (Please be sure you are supposed to take that plunge) .For me and my friend ,our step of faith was leaving the usual stop, where we were sure of getting a shuttle, we strolled without the assurance of getting transport!

Remember, I prayed for a shuttle but I didn't get one until I moved . So get out!

BACK TO CORINTH

9:13 pm Unknown 7 Comments

I have been studying the book of Corinthians lately and I found out that it has some interesting lessons to be learnt from it.

The church of Corinth was a growing and well-endowed church. In chapters one and three of Paul's first letter to the church,he addressed an issue that threatened the unity of the church----Sectarianism

Sectarianism is defined as a narrow-minded adherence to a particular sect, party or person . In this scenario, the church of Corinth was experiencing divisions.   Some said they follow Paul, some Apollos, while others said they were followers of Cephas            ( 1Corinthians 1:10-12, 3:4 ).
Paul reprimanded them by showing them that they are one,he stressed that these apostles (himself ,Cephas and Apollos) were just people whom God used to minister to them and that these apostles preached the same Jesus to them.

This issue of sectarianism can also be found in Christendom today . Just like the Corinth church, some Christians tend to exalt a denomination or spiritual leader dogmatically . As a result of this ,they criticise other Christians who do not follow that  denomination or that particular spiritual leader. I believe that this should not be, so long we all uphold the same belief,we are  one family. I would like to stress here that true believers are those ,who solely believe in Christ as the only saviour of the world, they believe in his death and resurrection, believe in his second coming as well as other unadulterated biblical principles .They also believe the word of God as the final authority. These people are the church, regardless of  denomination or leadership.

I know this is a sensitive one, but like Paul reproved the Corinthians, let us stop judging and discriminating against  each other and see ourselves as one.

I would love to hear your opinions about this post. PS: Give your comments without rude language or prejudice

FASHION,

DO YOU REALLY NEED SUNGLASSES?

5:54 pm Unknown 4 Comments

Sunglasses are a very common trend today. People wear them to almost anywhere. Sunglasses are worn to school, offices, events and parties, just name it. Asides from the fashionable flair it adds to one's looks ,it can also have health benefits.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF WEARING SUNGLASSES

HEADACHE : Wearing Sunglasses can help prevent headache. Exposure to intense sunlight can enkindle eyestrain and this can in turn trigger migraine.

PHOTOKERATITIS : This results from over-exposure to Ultraviolet rays either through natural source or artificial sources. A natural source of ultraviolet rays is the sun.  Artificial sources  include welding equipments, lasers, several electric lamps and even tanning equipments. Symptoms of photokeratitis include intense pain, twitching of the eye, redness ,swollen eyelids etc.  A good sunglass can help prevent this.

CATARACTS: When the eye is exposed to too much ultraviolet rays, it can cause cloudiness of the eye lenses, hence the person affected will have a blurry vision. This is otherwise known as cataracts.

PTERYGIUM: Pterygium is a growth of the clear, thin tissue ( conjunctiva ) of the eye. It grows out to cover the white part of the eye  and  moves onto the cornea. Though this growth is said to be non-cancerous but it causes distorted vision. The actual cause is not known, but studies show that it occurs more in people exposed to UV rays from sunlight. Other predisposing factors include regular exposure to sandy, windy and dusty areas.

SKIN CANCER:  One way of preventing skin cancer is by wearing sunglasses. This prevents ultraviolet rays from filtering into the eyes and the skin around the eyes.

Now that we have discussed the health benefits of sunglasses ,you might ask that how do I get a good sunglass?  Here are a few suggestions:

#1.   Ensure to check the label of the shades to see if it has 95-100% Ultraviolet rays (UV) protection, other labels might read "UV absorption up to 400mn" it means the same . please do this regardless of how much you like the shades or the designer.

#2. You might also want to put lens in consideration. A mirror-coated lens  shields your eyes away from too much sun . A photochromic lens might also be a good consideration , this lens automatically darkens in bright light and becomes lighter in low light.  (Whatever kind of lens you prefer ,the label must specify that it has uv rays protection)

#3.   Decide if you want a glass or plastic lens. Plastic lens are recommended for children and bikers for safety purposes.

#4.  Good sunglass might not be cheap but not all expensive sunglasses are good.

It is worthy of note that your body needs some sunlight, as it helps to form vitamin D in body and this helps in maintaining a good level of calcium and phosphorus. Also, too much wearing of sunglasses can make you photophobic ( having morbid fear of light) . So decide to strike a balance.

Having discussed the health issues of sunglass, look out for the part 2 of DO YOU REALLY NEED SUNGLASSES? In it, I will be discussing the fashion side of sunglasses. Yaay! I am so excited.

INSPIRATION,

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BEAUTY TIPS

6:02 pm Unknown 3 Comments

All women  love to look beautiful. At least, most women I know do. They  want to look good, attractive and presentable, most especially when they go out. Perhaps, this is why we indulge all the tips that  the fashion industry has doled out to us over the years.

I will be sharing some beauty tips here. This tips are relevant for women of all ages, race and class.  Trust me, you can never go wrong using them.

Beauty Tip #1 : Be God fearing

For a woman to possess true beauty, she must have the fear of God. The fear of God is to be in constant reverence and obedience to God. A God-fearing woman wants to do the right thing and she also stays away from evil. This will not only save her and her family a lot of trouble,it will also bring the blessings of God upon them.

Beauty Tip #2: Show Kindness
A kind woman is one who is tender-hearted and ready to help any one in need. Kindness can be shown in many ways. it can be shown by babysitting another person's child, helping the aged ,giving material and financial aid, giving a listening hear to a hurting person, praying for a person, volunteering for a charity project, this list is endless. Whatever you do to cause relief and make life better is an act of kindness.

Beauty Tip #3: Be Hardworking.
Another tip that makes  a woman  irresistibly beautiful is handwork.  She doesn't have to labor physically all day to be hardworking. All she  has  to do is to ensure that  everything in her care is adequately managed and cared for. If she is married,it is her  duty to ensure that her home, husband and children are well cared for. In her career, she should exhibit diligence and commitment. She must also be a good employer of resources. I would like to digress here by saying that too many women waste precious time  chatting and watching television. ( I am not asking you to stop chatting with friends and watching tv ,but please ,discipline yourself to limit it) .Too much chatting leads to gossip, too much tv dulls your sense of creativity! The time and energy used in doing this could be channeled into productive activities.
Finally, to be a hardworking woman ,you have to continually develop yourself by engaging in productive  reading and activities.

Beauty Tip #4: Good Dressing
It is highly important that a woman dresses well. The media and fashion industry has fed us with several  twisted mode of dressing over the years. The ideal mode is of dressing for a woman who wants to be beautiful is to dress modestly and appropriate! Ladies, please show off your cleavages and thighs to your husbands not the whole world!  A woman does not  have to wear Peruvian weave, don loreal make-up,or wear Christian louboutin heels to become beautiful. All you need do is choose a style that suits your personality (keep being modest in mind) and off you go!

Beauty Tip #5: Good countenance
Nowadays, most women go around wearing a frown on their faces . I do understand that we are coping with  family ,work and a whole lots of things at the same time.  But common girl! A smile can change your entire appearance. You may be gorgeously dressed but with that frown on your face, you will look unattractive. Smiling brightens your face and adds a flair to your looks. Remember to smile as you go out .#winks#.

Beauty Tip #6: Confidence
This makes a woman so irresistible .Ladies, get your act together together and be proud of who you are. I am not taking about having  an over-conceited opinion of yourself ,rather I am saying you should have a good self-esteem. God fashioned you in a unique manner, you are so valuable to him that he sent Jesus to die for you!  So quit the pity party, stop wishing you were someone else. Hold your head high and let the world see God's eminence in you.

Beauty Tip #7 : Pleasant Words
A beautiful woman is a woman of pleasant words. Have you ever being around a woman who speaks mean and negative words at regular intervals? Trust me you don't want to be around her. Women should learn to uplift, encourage and build up people with their words. This will make you more appealing .

Beauty Tip #8: Humility
A humble woman is a rare gem. Humility does not mean stupidity, rather it is the lack of false pride. A truly beautiful and strong woman is a humble one. A humble woman is teachable, not easily provoked and submissive to authority.

ENCOURAGEMENT,

HEART OF THE FATHER (HOTF) : TRUSTING IN HIM

4:27 pm Unknown 2 Comments

"Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God  that it will be just as it was told me". Acts 27:25

Paul had gone through series of trials and in this text , he was in transit by sea to appear before Caesar (another trial). As if he hadn't had enough trouble, a terrible storm arose , which threatened his life and that of his travelling companions.

As a human being, he should have been greatly terrified and distressed. ( After all, he was being persecuted for the sake of the gospel ,so why should this happen to him?). Instead, he encouraged the others because he believed what God had said to him regarding the journey.  An angel had appeared to him in the night and assured him that no lives will be lost .(Acts 27:22-24)

In life ,we all have various storms ravaging our ship. These storms could be in our family ,health, career or finances. Believe me, these times can be so frustrating and depressing. So what do we do in times like this? We should hold on to the promise which God gave concerning that particular issue. If has God has promised ,he is able to bring it to pass. {HOTF}

ENCOURAGEMENT,

I DARE TO CALL HIM FATHER

1:10 pm Unknown 2 Comments

As a young child, I relied on my parents for everything. I didn't have to worry about  the next meal,I was sure my parents would provide the food. I looked up to my parents for guidance in everything ,I believed the motto "dad and mom knows best". I also believed that my parents would always protect me. I remember having nightmares and running to my parents room. I even preferred that my dad  prays for me,because, I believed that God would answer him faster. In short, all my thinking at that time was that as long as my parents were there ,all will be well.

Earthly parents are meant to be a haven and fortress for their children. They are to protect, guide, instruct and provide for  them. But as hard these parents might try ,they cannot meet our every need and they will not always be there. The good news is,there is a parent who can meet all needs and who will always be there. His name is God.

God is not only our creator, he is also our father. The bible says that as many received him(Jesus) ,he gave them power to become the sons of God (John 1:12).    To those who have not received Jesus, I urge you today to accept him as your Lord and saviour so that you can become a child  of God.

I understand quite well that someone  who will read this is  already a Christian . My question is to you is, do you really believe that God is your father?  If yes, then why do you  spend so much time worrying and trying to do impossible things that only God can do? It is the right of a child to ask his parents for everything he needs. It is also the obligation of a parent to protect , guide and provide for the child. Today, chose to believe God like a child believes in its parent and you will be well taken care of by your heavenly father.

HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?

2:03 pm Unknown 2 Comments

How bad do you want it? Quite an odd question you would say. But I hear people use it often. Some rephrase and say " I want it so badly". Guys sometimes use this line to cajole the women folk, they might say oh! I need you so badly! I can't wait to have you in my life. lol!   Ok, I am not talking about relationships today, maybe tomorrow. lol!

We all have visions, dreams and expectations that we want to achieve, but the question is how bad do we want it to happen? I realized that if you want a change or an achievement, you have to work for it. Recently, one of the files in my custody ( a very important one) got missing in the office. I searched everywhere but I could not find it. I was so frustrated that  I resolved to praying. I know it sounds funny but if God can see everything,he surely knows where the file is hiding.

I prayed on the first day and searched again but found nothing. I did the same thing on the second and third day, I still did not find the file. That week ran out and a new week began. At this point, I had became so discouraged but I persisted. I continued praying and searching for the file. Finally,on the second day of the new week,I found the naughty file stuck underneath a drawer!

It is so easy to dream and have aspirations but  dreaming and wishing won't make them happen. Just like I did a whole lot because I needed to find my file badly, you will have to put in a lot of hard work and persistence to actualize that dream or goal.

GOD,

A WORD ON GOSSIP

1:51 pm Unknown 0 Comments

I love to gist. In fact, gisting is a popular culture with the women folk. But when gisting is not curbed it can lead to gossip.

We all have different views on gossip. Some say it is not bad, some say it can damage your integrity if the object of gossip gets to know about it,some believe it is a sin. I agree with the second and third view. But wait, what if there's another twisted side to gossiping. Read on while I share my experience.

I had this older friend who was like a big sister to me, We would chat about a lot of things. But most times, our discussion revolved around a particular person. We talked about how bad and sly , this person was. I need to digress here and say, even if a person is bad or does not act rightly, this is not an excuse to gossip about that person.
Though we both knew this individual ( the object of our gossip), but I often had a direct contact with him. So I just told my older friend about all that he did. Oh my! I was talebearer/ gossip ( Two titles that make you miserable. lol). Yes, it really made me miserable.

The irony of all this was that, I knew what I was doing was wrong. At times, when I want to start gisting with her, I would have a  check in my spirit, urging me not do it (I believe this is the Holy spirit) but I ignore it. And after the conversation,I would feel guilty and heavy.  I repented of this several times but I still continued.        ( PS: It is not pleasing to God to sin continually) I  imagine how patient God must have been, putting up me doing such continually. Then the day came, that I learnt my lesson and I  saw other side of gossiping.

My older friend is a very hot-tempered woman and she likes things to be done  immediately. She wanted some things to be done for her, but  it could not be done on time due to  circumstances beyond my control. The result, she lashed out verbally at me and guess what? the stuff I gossiped to her about was what she used to abuse me. I was so sad and felt like crying. Then I reasoned with myself, and made a decision that I was never going to violate God's law for anybody, no matter how close they are .I also pray that God will help me to stay true to this decision.

Obeying God and his commandments are so important, ditching God to please people is biggest mistake one can ever make . Because, in the end , those you strive to please will always disappoint you. Only God has got your back.

ITS YOUR TURN
